The Nursery School is operated by Potters Bar United Reformed Church as part of its work to serve the community of Potters Bar and its locality. It was founded in 1966 to provide quality Foundation Stage education for children until they gain admission to primary school and is led by the teacher in charge who reports to the Nursery School Management Committee comprising representatives of the parents and Church. The Nursery accepts up to 36 children between the ages of 2 years 4 months and 5 years at any one session and is inspected periodically by Ofsted, the last occasion being in November 2009. The School is registered to receive Nursery Education Grant for three and four year olds and for two year olds whose parents are on benefit. The Nursery acts as a feeder to all the local State Primary Schools as well as many of the Private Schools, which means that your child can stay with us until they are “rising 5” and are ready and well prepared for school. The Nursery is open five mornings a week from 9am to noon, the term being the same as the State Primary Schools. Lunch Club is available for an extra hour, 12-1pm. Children bring their own packed lunch which is eaten in a sociable atmosphere followed by various fun activities. The facilities of the Nursery include two halls with a separate modern kitchen, and access to Tilbury Hall, a large garden and a secure outside play area. There are separate boys’ and girls’ toilets.
